Description
The Thooku Vilakku is also known as the ‘Hanging Lamp’ or ‘Holy Lamp’ in the southern part of India. It is a traditional oil lamp hung in temples, the pooja room, the verandah, or as a home decor item in Karalee households. The conventional brass hanging lamp is used as it signifies positivity and knowledge and is also a symbol of prosperity. Thookku vilakku is made of high-quality brass, which provides high standards and durability for this product. The lamp is thoroughly polished and finished to give it an impressive finesse and look. Typically, the hanging Thooku vilakku has either five grooves or seven grooves. In each groove, wicks dipped in oil are used for lighting and praying to the Goddess. The lamp is then hung onto the ceiling using a chain attached to it made from bronze and a hook.
It is an inevitable item during auspicious occasions according to Hindu traditions; lighting this lamp is considered as the conquering of divine energies over the darkness or diabolic energies. Also, if you wish to make a special gift for your loved ones during any festive season, this makes a perfect choice. It is an appealing gift for all seasons.
